Campfreedom Finland

Campfreedom Finland rents luxury campsites in Uuraslahti. The tents are well-equipped and ready-pitched. As a customer, all you need do is arrive! The idea is to offer peace and quiet in beautiful natural surroundings. The campsite is small in scale, providing a maximum of two tents and ten people. Additional services include—for example—tent saunas, stand-up paddling, canoes, rowing boats, and catering.

Vääräjoki river

Vääräjoki is an outstanding canoe route that flows into Lake Kyrösjärvi. The river has a nice steady current, so canoes can move along easily. The route passes trees beaver-felled trees and nests, the Kukkurakoski dam and an outstanding campfire site with lean-tos, as well as a few spots in which the currents are slightly stronger.

Vatulanharju - Vatula ridge

Ikaalinen’s magnificent Vatulanharju is part of a longer ridge formation that begins in Hämeenkyrö as Lintuharju, then continues west-northwest as Ulvaanharju, followed by the steep contours of Vatulanharju. The section between the Vatulanharju and Ulvaanharju ridges is more than ten kilometres in total length. Vatula has great ski and mountain bike trails, with rest stops along the way. Vatula also has a frisbee golf course and a nature trail.

Riverside Husky

Riverside Husky is a small, family-owned husky kennel in Ikaalinen’s Sisätö district.

Saunafestivaalit- The Sauna Festival

Ikaalinen’s Sauna Festival, which happens every year in mid-July, offers a great variety of portable saunas, hot tubs, and vendors of sauna products and services. The midnight sauna is a fantastic experience! During the festival is decided the winner of the Finnish Championships in vihta or sauna whisk making and steam slinging (löylynheitto), alongside the Sauna Champion and Smoke Sauna Champion of the year.

Animals, nature, and the countryside play a central role at Luomajärven Kievari. You’ll find special saunas, events, horseback riding, horse-drawn carriage rides, sleigh rides, mountain bike rentals, fat bike rentals, snowshoes, forest baths, animal excursions, farm programmes, pony trekking, and ski tours, among other activities. We have a farmyard, a play forest, and a children's playground.

Luomajärven Kievarin Kotieläinpiha - Luomajärvi Inn Petting Zoo

At Luomajärven Kievari you'll find an authentic country atmosphere and plenty of animals to pet! It costs nothing to visit. The farm has Finnish and Estonian horses, with miniature pigs, donkeys, cats, and many breeds of chicken, rabbit, sheep, and goat. Next door, you’ll find handsome horned cows grazing. We also have a children's playground. You can reserve a day for the whole family that includes farm activities, pony rides, horseback riding, and horse-drawn carriage rides.

Nepalska

Nepalska sells fair-trade Nepalese-made clothing and handicrafts in an old house at the intersection of Vatulantie and Laiteentie. The building has housed a mixed goods store for a century. You can visit Nepalska and shop at any time by appointment. Our summer opening hours will be announced later.

Rahkola Summer

Rahkola Summer gathers together cultural producers, artists, craftspeople, sports associations, and other organisations and volunteers with the aid of the municipality of Ikaalinen. Together, we provide a programme of access to the cultural, leisure, and social life of Ikaalinen in the midst of the most beautiful parts of summer, offering experiences to visitors and the chance to relax and have fun together.

Puistofilosofia - Philosophy in the Park

Philosophy in the Park is an annual festival of thought and dialogue in Ikaalinen, during which people gather in a park - in a Socratic fashion - to discuss topics that interest them. Over the years, Ikaalinen’s Philosophy in the Park week has become part of the culture of local events, with a strong, alternative philosophy-event tone and atmosphere.

Outdoor areas

Ikaalinen has great outdoor sports facilities. Relax your mind and body on the shores of lakes, in beautiful natural surroundings. The Toivolansaari jogging track and ‘Krista's Run,’ skier Krista Pärmäkoski's signature ski trail, are great examples of Ikaalinen's impressive gems.

The Villages of Heittola and Riitiala

Riitiala and its neighbouring villages, Heittola, Höytölä, and Kiiala, are ancient farming locations in Satakunta. A pivotal factor in the settlement of those villages is Lake Kyrösjärvi, whose shores were settled in the middle of the Iron Age. People have remained in the same location to this day. The villages of Riititala and Heittola are of great cultural and historical value, are still going strong, and still have a touch of the 19th century about them.

Koivikko camping centre

The Koivikko parish camping centre, in the beautiful scenery of the village of Karttu, offers an excellent setting for parties and events. The dining facilities of the main building of Koivikko can seat up to eighty people. The accommodation next to the main building can sleep up to thirty-five people.

Frigårdin Luomutila - Frigård Organic Farm

The farm is located in the beautiful countryside of Ikaalinen, in the village of Vatsiainen. The farm produces organic eggs, strawberries, raspberries, potatoes, onions, and a variety of other vegetables. You can buy from the farm and from REKO ring of people. (REKO=producer to consumer)

The Huopio market in Luhalahti kicks off in the summer. The Saturday market brings permanent residents, summer residents, and market traders to the Luhalahti market space four times over the summer months

Ikaalinen market

Ikaalinen’s marketplace is open on Wednesdays all year round in the church square. The market offers a communal living room for Ikaalinen's residents, visitors, and summer residents, somewhere people come not only to shop, but to spend time with and meet friends and acquaintances.

Kallionkieli Village

Kallionkieli village, on the shore of Lake Kyrösjärvi, is a very old residential area with a name that may derive from a striking clifftop or ledge. The village is distinctive in that all seven farmhouses were built side by side on the same rock. Two farms were later moved a little apart from the others. Even today, these five farms and their buildings still form a tight 'hamlet.'

Tevapirtti

Tevapirtti is a hunting lodge by the bank of an idyllic forest pool in Tevaniemi. Aureenlopen Eränkävijät ry or the Aureenlope Hunters Association also rents Tevapirtti for parties and events.

Toimela, a log-built events venue, was finished in 2017. Modern kitchen facilities and a hall for a hundred people provide a great setting for a party or other event in the beautiful rural landscape of the village of Pukara, Ikaalinen.

Arasalon Elämyskota - The Arasalo Adventure Lodge

You’ll find the campsite is in Arasalo, in Ikaalinen’s Isoröyhiö district. The lodge is a comfortable location for a holiday, party, or other event. Built from ‘kelohirsi’ or dead standing pine, the lodge has room for about thirty people and overnight accommodation for five.

Kovelahden Juhlatalo Nousula - Kovelahti Nousula Banquet Hall

The renovated event facilities at Nousula can seat around 200 guests and are licensed for 300-person gatherings. Modern kitchen facilities, praised by local catering services, make it easy to host your event. Coffee and tea services are available on request. Catering and coffee tableware for 200 people is also available to rent.

Tevaniemen Maamiesseurantalo

You can rent the Tevaniemen Maamiesseurantalo for events from weddings to meetings. Finished in 1934, the hall is a magnificent example of the power of volunteer effort. The village association also offers catering and coffee tableware for over 200 people.

Eräharju

Owned by the Lahdenpohja Hunters Association, Eräharju is a meeting and recreation venue outsiders can rent too.

Nousevan Voiman talo

Nousevan Voiman talo is in Riitiala, Heittolantie, Ikaalinen. The house is available to rent for events such as weddings and birthdays. The space has chairs and tableware for up to 200 guests.

The Iso-Röyhiö village district

The village district of Iso-Röyhiö is the oldest settled area in eastern Ikaalinen and has been inhabited since the Iron Age. Iso-Röyhiö's Alaskylä was built as a group village in the typical Hämäläinen style. Its village structure is one of the best preserved in the area. The houses are clustered tightly along the village road, on the shore of Lake Kyrösjärvi.

Summer Theatre Seleentakuset

You’ll find the Seleentakuset Summer Theatre, which belongs to the Röyhiö Village Society, just behind the centre of Ikaalinen. The theatre is in the grounds of Röyhiö Village Hall and has a covered auditorium for 250 people and an uncovered auditorium for fifty people. Groups can dine at the village hall connected to the theatre. Tasty home-cooked food is available from a buffet. As a result of active volunteer work, the village hall has become the cultural centre of eastern Ikaalinen.

Komppi Shopping Centre

Shops and services at Komppi shopping centre include Nanso, Reima, Bakery café shop, Tähkä, the Rauskitar hairdressers, K-Supermarket, Tokmanni store, Lähitapiola, Subway, Hesburger, Tourist Office, and Komppis Play world.

Röyhiön Kylätalo - Röyhiö Village Hall

Built in 1922, Röyhiön Kylätalol is a former school building of cultural and historical value. Ownership of the hall was passed to the village association in 2002. The school premises have recently been renovated to modern standards, while respecting old traditions. The classrooms are now used for hobbies, meetings, and parties, while the kitchens have been renovated into facilities ideal for catering. The grounds have a terrace and a pavilion. The coffee and catering equipment of the Röyhiö Farmers' Association is available to rent. The distance to the centre of Ikaalinen is about 30 km, while about 400 metres from the village house is a boat and dock on the shore of the Penijoenlahti of Lake Kyrösjärvi

Vatulan Nykäys - The Vatula Nykäys Hall

Vatulan Nykäys offers affordable, comfortable accommodation for holidaymakers, hikers, families, and groups engaged in sports and exercise. Nykäys is also a great place for meetings and sauna evenings. This banquet hall is ideal for atmospheric events.

Accordion Museum

The Finnish Accordion Institute maintains an accordion collection that includes nearly every important Finnish five-row accordion model over thirty years of age. Most of its instruments date to the 1930s and 1940s. The oldest accordion in the collection is a German model from the 1880s.

Fishing

Ikaalinen offers great fishing opportunities, fishing guides, and shops selling fishing equipment. Lake Kyrösjärvi is an unrivalled zander lake, while the fish-filled rapids of Lake Leppäsjärvi are home to trout, rainbow trout, and grayling. Teerilampi near Seitseminen National Park has rainbow trout ready to snatch on to the right lure.

Anjalan Hevostila is located in Ikaalinen, in the beautiful village of Kilvakkala on the shores of Lake Kyrösjärvi. The farm offers, riding, riding lessons, and horse grooming courses.

Villa Vihta is a fantastic new sauna maintained by the Saunaseura Löylynlyöjät ry on the shores of Lake Kyrösjärvi, at Toivolansaari Campsite. The villa offers sauna reservations, ice swimming, and space rental for private events. It’s available all year round.

Poltinkoski Golf, Café Poltti

You’ll find Poltinkoski Golf's idyllic country golf course between Ikaalinen and Parkano. The beautiful course follows the landscape of the Poltinjoki river and offers a pleasant golfing experience for both less experienced golfers and those looking for a more challenging game. The Poltti club café serves delicious sweet and savoury snacks perfect for your visit.

Hiking, mountain biking, and skiing

The magnificent ridges and pine forests of Hämeenkangas offer tens of kilometres of trails for hiking, skiing, mountain biking, and horse riding, fringed with houses and lean-tos. Vatula's ski slopes are among the best-known in the country, with trails of varying lengths for fitness and competitive skiers, as well as for children. The ‘Pirka Taival’ trail system (350 km) also runs through Ikaalinen, while Seitseminen National Park has around sixty kilometres of marked trails. Ikaalinen certainly has options for every hiker!

Jyllinjoki and Vääräjoki rivers offer great opportunities for canoeing, on your own or with a guide. You can also rent canoes for both routes.

Luhalahti Church

In 1919, a prayer room association was founded in east Ikaalinen, following which a prayer room was built in Luhalahti, following the plans of Bertel Strömmer. Finished in 1934, the prayer room was inaugurated for that purpose in the same year. It was later inaugurated as a church.

The Villages of Ikaalinen

Local Heritage Museum

Ikaalinen’s Local Heritage Museum displays objects from the Ikaalinen parish area. The museum is housed in a former granary from the 1830s next to the church, which was handed to the museum society by the municipality of Ikaalinen in 1966. The museum opened in August 1967.

Wanha Kauppala

Founded by Emperor Alexander II in 1858, the Wanha Kauppala is said to be the oldest, smallest, and most beautiful in Finland. Its valuable old buildings have survived in outstanding condition. Its leafy hardwood boulevards and beautiful parks invite you to explore the market alleyways.

Juhlatalo Rahkola

Rahkola Hall

Built around 1832, Rahkola hall is right in the centre of Ikaalinen, next to the church. The handsome structure has served as a school, cattle yard, and district courthouse. Rahkola is a beautiful building with clean lines and is considered valuable by the Finnish Heritage Agency.

Oma Tupa Hall

Oma Tupa, the magnificent 100-year-old banqueting hall in Ikaalinen’s Old Market Square, is a central attraction that can be rented for parties, events, and concerts. The building was designed by architect Bertel Strömmer.

Mattilan Matkailutila, Vaarin Varasto - Mattila Tourist Farm, Vaarin Varasto (antique shop)

Mattila is a traditional farm in the village of Kurkela, on the shores of Lake Kyrösjärvi. On the farm you’ll find Vaarin Varasto antique shop, our ‘Into’ café and food store, and two cottages for rent during the summer.

The Fredrika Sofia Church and Belfry

The Fredrika Sofia church, a roadside church in Ikaalinen, was inaugurated as early as 1801, with its belfry finished in 1861. The church has approximately 1 100 seats. This wooden cruciform church is a very impressive sight.

Sofia is a delicious lunch spot for the whole family in the centre of Ikaalinen. The restaurant offers a buffet lunch of home-cooked food that changes daily. The restaurant also functions as a private restaurant on-demand, and offers party, event, and meeting services.

Seitseminen National Park

On the border of Ikaalinen and Ylöjärvi, Seitseminen National Park is a great destination for hiking and day trips. Kovero crown forest croft (Koveron kruununmetsätorppa) shows the way of life in the district at the beginning of the last century. The Multiharju primeval forest is one of the oldest forest areas in southern Finland.

Manso Camping

Manso Camping provides café and accommodation services in a scenic setting, on the shores of Lake Kyrösjärvi. You can find the campsite in Mansoniemi, next to the E-12 highway, fifteen km from the centres of Ikaalinen and Parkano.
